The 25/5 interval is the original Pomodoro Technique as designed by Francesco Cirillo: work for 25 minutes, rest for 5, and take a longer 15 minute break after four rounds. It is short enough that starting never feels daunting, and long enough to make real progress on a task.

This timer is preset to 25/5 and ready to go — press start, pick a task, and begin your first pomodoro. Pair it with the built-in lofi music player or ambient sound mixer if you focus better with background noise.

Why 25 minutes works

Twenty-five minutes sits in a sweet spot: it is long enough to get past the friction of starting, but short enough that the end is always in sight. Knowing a break is minutes away makes it easier to ignore distractions — anything that pops into your head can wait until the pomodoro is over.

The 5 minute break is deliberately short. It is a reset for your eyes and posture, not a context switch. Stand up, stretch, look out a window — Pomozen suggests a quick wellness exercise at the start of every break.

How to use this timer

Add the tasks you want to work on and estimate how many pomodoros each will take. Press start (or hit the spacebar) and work on one task until the alarm sounds. After each 25 minute session, take the 5 minute break, and after four sessions take the long 15 minute break. Your completed pomodoros and focus minutes are tracked automatically in the stats panel.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 25/5 Pomodoro Technique?

It is a time management method where you work in 25 minute focused intervals separated by 5 minute breaks. After four work intervals you take a longer break of 15-30 minutes. Each work interval is called a pomodoro.

Is this 25 minute timer free?

Yes. The timer, task list, ambient sounds, and stats are free and work without an account. Your settings and progress are saved in your browser.

Can I change the interval lengths?

Yes — open Settings to set any work, short break, and long break durations, or use presets like 50/10 and 90/20 deep work.
